On September 29, 2001, Allied Mineral Products, Inc. celebrated its 40th anniversary as an independent refractory company. Allied was founded by William F. Winemiller and Robert M. Scott as a distribution company for electrochemically refined minerals. The company quickly expanded sales with the development and introduction of the MINRO line of monolithic refractories for the foundry industry in 1964. Since then, Allied has grown into a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories, developing and marketing many successful products for the foundry, steel and aluminum industries.
