Applied Ceramics Announces Joint Venture

Purification Cellutions LLC is a new joint venture of MeadWestvaco Corp., Stamford, Conn., and Applied Ceramics Inc., Atlanta, Ga. The company's first manufacturing operation, located in Waynesboro, Ga., is a high-technology production center for Purification Cellutions' innovative activated carbon honeycomb systems, which will be used in emissions controls on a new class of ultra-clean passenger vehicles entering the U.S. market this year. The product represents nearly a decade of research and development in evaporative emissions technology and activated carbon/ceramics manufacturing. The patented carbon honeycomb and associated manufacturing processes represent leading technology for emissions control in gasoline-fueled vehicles.
