Ceramacast(TM) 510 from Aremco Products, Inc. is an aluminum oxide-based, hydraulic-setting ceramic compound ideal for encapsulating cartridge heaters and embedding high temperature components such as induction heating coils to 3200F (1760C). Ceramacast 510 is supplied as a dry powder, formulated with a high alumina content of greater than 90%. It is bonded using calcium aluminate, and the "as-cast" and dried density is 180 lbs/ft(3). Exceptional thermal conductivity and a high dielectric strength of 75-100 volts/mil are provided. Ceramacast 510 is mixed with water to a paste-like consistency in a ratio of 100 parts powder to 15-19 parts water. It provides one hour pot life and hardening time of five hours. Full cure is achieved after drying at room temperature for 24 hours.
