Art for All

Google's new Art Project makes preeminent art galleries available to everyone with an Internet connection.

Google has partnered with nearly 20 renowned museums worldwide to form the Google Art Project, which was launched online yesterday. The Art Project strives to make major works of art available to the general public via home or school computers. All the galleries can be toured virtually, and more than 1000 works have been photographed in such a way that viewers can zoom in and examine them in minute detail.

Google Art Project includes features that provide additional information about the artwork history, the artist and the museum. Visitors to the site can also save their favorite images in a personal collection that can be shared via e-mail and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The Google Art Project can be accessed at www.googleartproject.com.
