Asahi Glass to Build New Automotive Glass Plant (11/28/06)

Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. recently announced that it will build its second automotive glass plant in China. To be located in Foshan, Quangdong Province, the 6.5 billion yen (US$55 million) plant will produce laminated and tempered glass; production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2008. Capacity at the new plant is expected to reach 1 million car sets per year, bringing Asahi’s total annual automotive glass production in China to 2.2 million car sets. The company will continuously work to strengthen and accelerate its supply system to offer higher-quality automotive glass products on a global basis.
