AVX Corp. is expanding its recently introduced PolyTect(TM) soft molding product line. This engineering grade polymer for overmolding fully-populated printed circuit boards is now available for a wide variety of applications. AVX has added to the PolyTect product line's capabilities by designing three different base materials that allow AVX to custom tailor the material properties to match specific uses. Capitalizing on the unique low molding temperature (150C) and pressure (300 psi) properties of the material, this new molding process provides a cost effective solution to conventional potting and welding operations in encapsulating electronic devices found in today's automotive, medical, portable electronics, microelectronics and industrial control markets.
