Bayer to Consolidate Electronic Chemicals Unit with H.C. Starck Subsidiary

Bayer Corp. will consolidate its Electronic Chemicals Business Unit with H.C. Starck, Inc., a Bayer Corp. subsidiary. The consolidation will take effect on Jan. 1, according to Dr. Elie Saad, Bayer's director of Performance Chemicals. Bayer Electronic Chemicals products that will be transferred to H.C. Starck include dimethylamine borane, a reducing agent used in circuit board manufacturing; Levasil(R) colloidal silicas used in a wide variety of applications and industries; Baytron(R), Bayer's family of conductive polymers; and related products.

"This business transfer will consolidate all of Bayer's electronic sector capabilities into one global enterprise, allowing us to serve our customers better by capitalizing on worldwide synergies," Saad said. H.C. Starck, with U.S. operations in Newton, Mass., produces refractory metal powders, mill products and ceramic materials that make sophisticated electronic components smaller, faster and smarter.
