According to "RE-131 Carbon Dioxide Utilization and Recovery," a soon-to-be-released report from Business Communications Co., Inc. (BCC), global CO2 merchant sales will reach $3.6 billion by 2008. During the forecast period, BCC forecasts a growth at an annual average growth rate (AAGR) corresponding to 2.4%, as the global manufacturing sector will use huge quantities of carbon dioxide for the production of environmentally cleaner products, such as food and fuels, and to upgrade increasing supplies of heavy crude oil. Applications in glass production, steel, non-ferrous and new materials processing will also help push demand. Clean energy alternatives also represent a large ticket opportunity.
