TechSys, Inc. recently announced that it has appointed Keith Blakely president and chief operating officer. An experienced manager, Blakely founded Advanced Refractory Technologies, Inc. (ART), a company focusing on the development of a new technology for synthesizing ceramic powders. He transformed ART from a two-man operation into an organization with over 300 employees operating in two U.S. facilities and with three international joint ventures and partnerships. He led development teams that resulted in numerous U.S. patents; is a multiple winner of the IR-100 award for the most significant new product of the year, given by "Research and Development Magazine"; was named Export Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994 by the NYS Business Development Center; and has authored numerous technical and business articles and publications. In 2001, he was named a fellow of the American Ceramic Society.
