Blasch Precision Ceramics, Inc. was recently selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to receive a 10-year, $20.7 million cost-share grant to further assist in the development of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Blasch is a participant in a team that is dedicated to the development and commercialization of SOFC power systems for residential, automotive and military applications as part of the Solid State Energy Conversion Alliance Program. The planned 10-year program will be executed in three phases to develop a 7- to 10-kilowatt solid oxide combined heat and power system for residential applications, and a 3- to 10-kilowatt auxiliary power unit for automotive applications.
