BOC has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply oxygen via pipeline to Siam Asahi Technoglass Co. Ltd. (SAT), located at Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, Chonburi province, Thailand. The oxygen plant that will supply SAT is expected to begin operating later this month. Under the contract, worth nearly $30 million, Eastern Industrial Gas, a BOC joint venture company, will supply the oxygen to SAT, a majority-owned subsidiary of Asahi Glass Co., for use in its production furnaces. SAT, which manufactures display glass for televisions at its Laem Chabang site, is in the process of converting from an air-fuel to an oxyfuel glass melting system. "BOC's relationship with Asahi, a major global customer, has resulted in a mutually beneficial, strategically important contract, which reinforces BOC's position as the leading industrial gases supplier to the glass industry in Asia," said Steve Hope, vice president, glass markets, BOC.
