Bodycote recently announced that Corr-I-Durr(R), its nitrocarburising process, has been selected as the heat treat process to increase the wear and corrosion resistance of automotive brake piston components for Erdrich Umformtechnik (EUT) GmbH & Co KG. Last June, EUT opened a new facility that produces about 10 million brake pistons per year. The pistons will be treated with a specially adapted Corr-I-Dur process once Bodycote begins production in Spring 2002. The new process increases the wear and corrosion resistance of the component, without affecting the core hardness, while ensuring dimensional integrity.
