Patrick R. Annese, who founded Bomas Machine Specialties, Inc. of Somerville, Mass., in 1959, died recently at the age of 79. He has long been recognized in the industry as a pioneer in the use of diamond tooling and an innovator in conformal grinding and machining of ceramics and composite materials. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, CV6, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 55 years, and four children, including Joseph (the president of Bomas who will carry on the tradition of his father), Patrick, Celeste and Susan.
