Calling All Artists

All designers and artists who create functional objects from fiber/paper, clay, wood, glass, plastic, or stone are encouraged to enter an upcoming portfolio competition.

The DHM Digital Gallery is seeking entries for its upcoming portfolio competition. Artists must submit images of 12 to 20 functional objects that belong to a particular material category. Categories may consist of wood, fiber/paper, clay, glass, or metal. Decorative items will not be considered; all pieces must have a useful application. The judges will evaluate collections based on originality, craftsmanship and photo quality. Selected portfolios will be uploaded to an online exhibit on the DHM Digital Gallery website from April to July 2011; the artists’ contact information will be included to allow site visitors to purchase the work. One exceptional collection will be awarded $200 and a "Best of Show" designation.

Oklahoma State University's Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising (DHM) in the College of Human Environmental Sciences manages the Digital Gallery. Although the DHM Digital Gallery does not conduct sales transactions for artists, it provides an arena to promote innovative creators in the field of applied design. The deadline for entry submission is February 1, 2011. For more information, visit http://ches.okstate.edu/dhm/gallery/.
