Carbo Ceramics Named one of "Forbes" 200 Best Small Companies

In the October 27 issue of "Forbes" magazine, CARBO Ceramics was ranked number 170 in "Forbes Hot Shots: 200 Best Small Companies for 2003." This is the second consecutive year the company has been included in the listing. As part of the selection process, more than 3500 companies with sales of $5 million to $600 million were screened for profitability and liquidity. For the final ranking, equal weight was given to growth in sales, earnings and ROE for the past five years and the latest 12 months. CARBO Ceramics is a producer and supplier of ceramic proppants, which are used in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells.
