Carson Elected to GrafTech Board (posted 5/28/09)

Carson served as CEO of Eaton's Electrical Group and was instrumental in growing the group from $2.2 billion in 1999 to $6.9 billion in 2008.

GrafTech International Ltd. recently announced that Randy Carson was elected as an independent director to the company’s board of directors. Carson served as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Electrical Group of Eaton Corp., where he was instrumental in growing the group from $2.2 billion in 1999 to $6.9 billion in 2008 through aggressive organic growth and significant acquisitions. In his 10-year tenure, he was involved in numerous acquisitions, increasing Eaton’s presence outside of North America and establishing a strong global footprint. Carson will retire from Eaton later this month.

Prior to joining Eaton in February 1999, Carson had a 26-year career with Rockwell International Corp., where he was responsible for many of the company’s automation businesses. He also serves on the board of directors for Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc.; Nordson Corp.; and Southwire Co., one of the world’s largest cable and wire manufacturers. Carson received a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering from Valparaiso University.

“We are very pleased that Randy has agreed to join our Board,” said Craig Shular, CEO of GrafTech. “We believe that Randy’s strong business experience and solid growth track record will add value to our board of directors, the company and our stockholders.”
