Ceradyne Appoints Gerk Vice President of Operations

Ceradyne, Inc. recently announced that Alvin Gerk, Ph.D., has been promoted to the corporate position of vice president operations. A seven-year Ceradyne veteran, Gerk has been responsible for the bulk of Ceradyne's Advanced Ceramic Operations production located in California, including its lightweight ceramic armor production and silicon nitride technical ceramic components for diesel engine parts. He received his bachelor's of science, master's of science and doctorate degrees in metallurgical engineering from the University of Illinois. "For the past year or so, our strategy has been to put an executive team in place to manage our current increased levels of business, as well as anticipated future levels," said Joel Moskowitz, chief executive officer. "We have accomplished this both through internal promotions as well as new hires. I am pleased that Al has moved up the Ceradyne ladder and joins our senior management team fulfilling, in part, our corporate strategy."
