Ceradyne Receives $49.2 Million Body Armor Order (posted 10/26/07)

Ceradyne, Inc. recently received a ceramic body armor delivery order for $49.2 million from the U.S. Army, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. The order is for enhanced side ballistic inserts (ESBI), which will be delivered from December 2007 through February 2008. This new delivery order will be shipped against an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract announced in July 2006, which covers a five-year delivery period.

“We are pleased that the Army continues to issue ESBI orders to our company,” said Dave Reed, president of North American Operations. “Our expanded capacity in Costa Mesa, California, and Lexington, Kentucky, allows us to meet the Army’s quality and delivery requirements. We anticipate additional orders on this ID/IQ contract early next year for deliveries throughout 2008.”

Additional information is available at www.ceradyne.com.
