Ceralink Inc. recently announced that it has assisted Engelhard Corp. in obtaining a new $5 million U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant through the use of Ceralinking (creative linkages) and R&D services. Engelhard approached Ceralink wanting to understand how to better use microwaves to recover precious metal catalysts from fuel cell substrates. In order to explore this idea fully, Engelhard needed to apply for a DOE grant and was in search of an appropriate academic partner. "Thanks to Ceralink, Engelhard was connected with a university that was already doing work in the field; this enabled us to apply for the grant on a timely basis," said Bruce Robertson, Ph.D., ventures manager for Engelhard. "As a result, Engelhard Corporation was awarded a $5 million, five-year contract with the DOE, with Ceralink having a critical research role."
