The wet polishing machine, launched earlier this year, is designed to give bases a smoothness of finish in line with hotel standards. Its water-swept diamond belts reportedly impart an excellent finish to even extremely rough bases, such as a pressed aggregate body. The new presses are characterized by maximum flexibility and uniformity of design for pots of any size. The press does not require a hydraulic system and is said to be easy to program and adjust.
Nabertherm - Hall A2, Stand 223Nabertherm will exhibit many examples of its broad range of kilns for the ceramic industry. The company will introduce its 2000 Series CERAMOTHERM kilns for the 21st century. In addition, the company will exhibit the latest innovation in porcelain decorating technology, the IR-504/90. This fiber-lined fast-fire batch kiln is designed to fire an 820°C cold-to-cold decorating cycle in 90 minutes. The Sliding Hearth design minimizes turn-around time since one hearth can be loaded while the other is firing. Additionally, the company will display the latest technology for binder removal and sintering of electronic ceramics.

The one-of-a-kind website provides a neutral exchange where industry professionals can buy or sell goods and services anywhere in the worldwide ceramics and glass market. CeramicSources.com offers complete end-to-end transactional services, including auctions, RFQ, payment and shipping, to provide its users with true "one-stop shopping" on the web. Users can also access the latest news and event information, forums, a materials glossary, currency converter and much more-all for free-simply by completing the membership form.
Riedhammer GmbH - Hall A2, Stand 241/338Riedhammer offers advice on specific applications, project planning, engineering, design, logistics, production, assembly, commissioning and service. The company also provides continuous kiln plants, including tunnel kilns with cars, transport tables, trays, rollers, and belt conveyances, as well as rotary and pendulum kilns; intermittent kiln plants, including chamber kilns, shuttle kilns, top hat kilns, re-circulation kilns, and ring pit furnaces; and dryers, including conventional and microwave dryers. Systems offered by Riedhammer include automated transportation equipment, loading and unloading systems, storage systems, electronic regulating and control systems, process control systems, systems for pollution reduction and heat recovery systems. The company will be playing a video at its booth showing a bisque firing kiln for tableware with an automated handling system.
Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc. - Hall A2, Stand 233/330The Ceramic Systems business of Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc., will exhibit at ceramitec under the name AnnaWerk. Countries represented in the booth will include Australia, Japan, China, Spain, Brazil, Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. A variety of products will be displayed and showcased via an ongoing audio-visual presentation with captions in several languages. Ceramic Systems-North America, represented by Christine Keller, Michael Arbini and Mac McGinnis, will promote its pusher plates for P/M and MIM sintering furnaces; stacking plates for ferrites, P/M and MIM; insulation brick for H2 atmosphere sintering furnaces; insulators for the production of thermocouple cables; setters and saggers for electronic ceramics/capacitors; tubes for glass/quartz/crystals and labware.
SACMI Group - Hall B2, Stand 215/314, 213/312, 212The SACMI Group will introduce a number of new process and machinery innovations. The PH4600 press for tiles will be on display, equipped with a prototype green ware cutting machine. The cutting machine represents an innovation in this sector and presents a challenge to create a process that uses large size monocavity dies to get smaller size products, thus eliminating the die changing downtime. The PULSAR kiln, renewed both in the burner typology and construction concepts, will also be presented at ceramitec. Such innovations are aimed at saving fuel and providing a safe working environment. SACMI used only ecological fibres in the kiln's construction, and also incorporated a new way to eliminate the polluted warm air discharge in the working environment due to the kiln roller conveyors. A new sorting line will also be on display, as well as the VISTA expert sorter for automatic tile sorting. Other machines for cutting and decoration of third fire and small size pieces will also be presented at the group's stand.
SAMA Maschinenbau GmbH and SAMA-DekoTech GmbH (SACMI White Ware) - Hall B2, Stand 209/308SAMA Maschinenbau GmbH and SAMA-DekoTech GmbH (SACMI White Ware) will present five exhibits during the ceramitec fair: an isostatic flatware pressing plant (type LPP-1-38/REV-RF); an automatic handle pressure casting and application line (type DGR-H6); a plate foot grinding plant (type TFS-4); a double tableware pressure casting plant (type PCD); and a thermal decal transferring machine (type 310). The isostatic flatware pressing plant uses steel punches or punches with a very hard lining to improve the ware surface quality. These punches are cleaned automatically by a revolving fettling unit after a certain number of pressings. A special robot treats the article rim finishing of non-round, square, rectangular, oval or irregularly formed articles. The automatic handle pressure casting and application line, debuted during Tecnargilla 1999, extends existing shaping plants for cups and mugs and allows handles to be manufactured automatically as well as applied to the leather-hard dried cups and mugs. The plate foot grinding plant allows the fully automatic grinding and polishing of plate feet, cup feet and cup rims. Depending on quality specifications, one or several grinding heads and polishing stations can be applied. The aim of the new double tableware pressure casting plant is to supply a production plant with a very interesting price/output ratio, while the thermal decal transfer machine features a photo-optic positioning device to guarantee the exact transfer of the decals.
Taylor, Tunnicliff Ltd. - Hall A2, Stand 103Taylor, Tunnicliff is introducing a new range of pyrometric devices to complement its existing products, Bullers Rings and Bullers Bars. The new range, called Bullers Discs, comprises two types of shrinkage devices that will cover firing temperature ranges, from 1350 to 1550°C and 1500 to 1750°C, respectively. As with Bullers Rings, the measurement of "heat-work" achieved during firing is related to the shrinkage of the Bullers Discs and is evaluated by the Bullers system of using a series of numbers to describe firings. Disc shrinkage is rapidly measured through a simple gauge with a direct number reading. Although primarily developed for the technical ceramics industry, where the disc diameter of only 20 mm means that they take up little space, the discs can also be used in the firing of hard paste porcelain and refractories.
Unifrax Corp. - Hall A2, Stand 203Unifrax insulation products provide heat management solutions in various applications and industries, including ceramic and glass. The company's new IsofraxT Thermal Insulation uses a patented silica-magnesia chemistry to solve a variety of demanding, high-temperature application problems. The fibre has the high-temperature performance characteristics required in many applications at temperatures up to 1260°C, is rapidly dissolved and removed from the lung if inhaled, and is in compliance with European regulatory requirements. The product is available in the U.S. and Europe in the following forms: fibre, blanket, modules and paper. The company was the recipient of a 1999 R&D 100 Award for the development of Isofrax Thermal Insulation.
