Charles Ross and Son Co. recently introduced its new DPM model double planetary mixer, which is available in sizes ranging from 1/2 pint to 750 gallons working capacity. The DPM can incorporate a new, patented HV blade design, which allows use of the mixer for materials having a viscosity of up to approximately 6 million centipoise, compared to approximately 1.5 million centipoise for the older models. The blade was designed to produce excellent axial and radial flow while operating at close blade-to-bowl clearance. The close blade-to-bowl design prevents the buildup of material on the tank wall and ensures efficient heat transfer when used with a jacketed mixing vessel.
