CoorsTek Acquires DEW Engineering and Development (posted 6/12/08)

The Ogdensburg, N.Y., facility will serve as the armor integrator for a newly formed company, called CoorsTek Armor Solutions, USA.

CoorsTek, Inc. recently announced that it has acquired DEW Engineering and Development Limited, an armor solutions provider of vehicle ballistic protection, specialty vehicles, and vehicle refurbishing (“re-life”) and repurposing (“re-role”) services. Incorporated in 1978, DEW Engineering is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and has operations in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada, and Ogdensburg, N.Y.

Canadian facilities will continue to operate as DEW Engineering and provide vehicle armor systems outside of the U.S. The Ogdensburg facility will become part of CoorsTek and serve as the armor integrator for a newly formed company, called CoorsTek Armor Solutions, USA, serving customers in the U.S. only. Existing domestic and international armor integration customers will continue to purchase base ceramic armor components from several CoorsTek facilities.

“DEW Engineering is a respected and innovative provider for a broad variety of military vehicle applications,” said Mark Chenoweth, executive vice president of CoorsTek, Inc. “CoorsTek will bring significant technical ceramic capability and rapid-ramp operational expertise to this armor enterprise, and we expect customers to benefit substantially.”
