DuPont Titanium Technologies recently announced a price increase for all DuPont™ Florida zircon grades sold globally. Effective July 1, or as permitted by contract, prices for all zircon grades will increase $75 per ton. The increase is based on unprecedented rises in energy and fuel costs associated with the mining, processing and tails retreatment required to meet customer requirements. Cost productivity and energy conservation efforts are being accelerated, but these programs will not be able to offset the significantly increased costs of producing the high-quality products customers expect from DuPont.

DuPont Titanium Technologies is reportedly the world’s largest manufacturer of titanium dioxide, serving customers globally. The company operates plants at DeLisle, Miss.; New Johnsonville, Tenn.; Edge Moor, Del.; Altamira, Mexico; and Kuan Yin, Taiwan. All of these facilities use the chloride manufacturing process. The company also operates a plant in Uberaba, Brazil, for finishing titanium dioxide and a mine in Starke, Fla.
