fuelcellmaterials.com and Catacel Announce Distribution Agreement (posted 2/21/08)

Catacel Corp. and fuelcellmaterials.com have entered into an exclusive agreement for distribution of Catacel’s patented Heat Exchange Platform (HEP™) product line.

Catacel Corp., a producer of catalyzed foil metal products, and fuelcellmaterials.com, a provider of products for the fuel cell and hydrogen production industries, have entered into an exclusive agreement for distribution of Catacel’s patented Heat Exchange Platform (HEP™) product line (U.S. Patent No. D560,276). The HEP is believed to be the first standardized high-temperature heat exchanger product manufactured for broad distribution.

The HEP is a cost-effective, foil-based module made of high-temperature materials throughout. It can be configured for heat exchange or catalytic reactor applications with an upper use temperature of 900°C. The key advantages are its simple and effective fabrication methods, light weight, adaptability to space constraints, scalability from 500 W to 50 kW, and the use of various foil inserts for adapting the HEP to customer requirements without reformatting the basic platform. In addition, by using catalyst-coated inserts, the HEP can be used for combined heat transfer/catalysis applications in all types of fuel cells.

“The HEP product line is an ideal addition to our growing array of products for the fuel cell industry,” said Jon Foreman, director of fuelcellmaterials.com. “The HEP fits the needs of our customers as an off-the-shelf yet multi-faceted solution for high-temperature heat exchange and reactor design. The replaceable foils offer options for designing and experimenting on multiple configurations for both heat exchange and catalytic applications quickly, easily and with minimal reinvestment. We foresee the HEP being used in systems from brass-board prototypes through full-scale production.”
