GE's John F. Welch Technology Centre Expands R&D Facility

The John F. Welch Technology Centre, home to GE technology organizations reached a major milestone with the expansion of its state-of-the-art R&D facilities.

The John F. Welch Technology Centre, home to GE technology organizations including Corporate Research & Development (CR&D), GE Plastics, GE Transportation Systems (GETS) and GE Medical Systems (GEMS), reached a major milestone with the expansion of its state-of-the-art R&D facilities. With an additional 149,000 sq. ft., the Centre will be able to accommodate 700 new scientists and engineers, and new technologies including power electronics, wireless telecommunication, non-destructive evaluation and imaging technology. Inaugurated on September 17, 2000, the Centre hosts state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of catalysis and advanced chemistry, polymer science and new synthetic materials, chemical engineering/process, advanced Six Sigma and process modeling/simulation, mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical system technology, ceramics and metallurgy, information technology and e-Business.
