Robert W. O'Quinn, director of General Shale Brick's research laboratory for 23 years, was recently honored with two industry awards. A 40-year employee at General Shale, he received the Director's Award from The National Brick Research Center at Clemson University in February. O'Quinn, who retired from General Shale on March 31, 2003, received the Director's Award for his "years of support of the National Brick Research Center, his substantial contributions to the technology of producing brick products, and his significant participation in The International Brick Plant Operator's Forum." He was also recently named a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society.
