As energy costs have cut into the profits of every ceramic manufacturer, GFC Kilns has helped many companies substantially improve kiln energy efficiency by retrofitting the combustion system with IMPS designs. Most recently, three shuttle kilns were completed with an average energy reduction of 38%. In addition to the fuel savings, temperature uniformity and control were improved in every application. During the retrofit, obsolete instrumentation is completely replaced with the customers' choice of PLCs in the IMPS application. Over the past few years, GFC has modified several oscillating-type shuttle kilns, and it currently has several more on order.
