The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) recently named John Brown as its first technical director.

The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) recently named John Brown, a former Corning Inc. scientist, as its first technical director. He will provide expert technical support to the council and its members. Brown earned a bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Syracuse University. He spent most of his 39 years in the glass area dealing with furnaces, combustion and glass composition in functional areas such as corporate engineering, development and fundamental research. The position of technical director was created in order to better serve GMIC members with technology expertise that they can use to improve their energy efficiency and overall effectiveness throughout their plant operations.

The council's website is located at http://www.gmic.org.
