The number 790 from Grieve Corp. is a standard electrically-heated box furnace with a maximum operating temperature of 2200F. Currently used for baking ceramic coatings, this furnace has workspace dimensions of 24 x 36 x 18 in. 36 KW total power is installed in heavy-gauge, high-temperature Kanthal AF alloy wire, rod overbend design to provide constant, even temperature to the workload. Controls on the furnace include a digital indicating temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors, five-hour shutdown timer, phase angle fired SCR power controller, power transformer integrally mounted on the back of the unit, and a single-pen strip chart recorder.
