Harper Expands Testing Capabilities

Harper International recently announced the installation of a microwave rotary furnace at its Technology Center in Lancaster, N.Y. According to Jeet Bhatia, president and CEO, "The addition of the microwave furnace demonstrates Harper's commitment to provide process solutions for the commercialization of today's new technologies by utilizing experienced professionals and state-of-the-art equipment." Harper's Technology Center offers process development, pilot testing and process scale-up; powder material reduction, oxidization and calcination; particle size and morphology control; gas-solid or solid-solid reaction; and thermodynamic/kinetic studies. "Interest is very high in microwave technology to reduce processing time and energy costs," said Fenglin Yang, Ph.D., manager of the Technology Center. "Our Technology Center is currently allocating time for companies and universities to schedule testing and development work."
