Hitco Carbon Composites Inc., an affiliate of the SGL Carbon Group, recently announced that it has entered into agreements with The Boeing Co. to produce up to 60 more large composite tailcone structures (in addition to the 110 already delivered to Boeing and the 14 units remaining to be built in the first contract) for the C-17 Globemaster III transport. Hitco will produce 17 to 18 units per year, beginning in 2004. "Hitco is pleased to continue its participation in the C-17 Globemaster III program," said Paul Pendorf, president of Hitco. "The C-17 is the world's most versatile airlifter. It serves our troops and allies on difficult missions to the remotest corners of the world whether in combat situations or humanitarian missions, as when natural disasters strike. We are proud to provide the composite tailcone for this versatile, reliable and necessary aircraft."
