J.M. Huber Corp. recently announced its acquisition of the alumina trihydrate (ATH) business of AluChem, Inc. Huber's acquisition of AluChem's ATH business represents a strategic fit with Huber's existing ATH business, which is a part of the Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) division. The acquisition also strengthens HEM's position in ATH in North America, improves its cost structure and adds significant capacity to HEM's existing ATH manufacturing facilities. "The higher production volumes resulting from the acquisition of AluChem's ATH business will enable HEM to make better use of its current operations and significantly improve performance," said Don Rubright, HEM president.
