The board of directors of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. recently elected John P. Jones III chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, effective December 1, 2000, succeeding Harold A. "Hap" Wagner. Jones currently serves as president and chief operating officer. Jones' appointment will coincide with the expected retirement of Wagner, who is 65 years old. Wagner has served as Air Products' chairman and CEO since May 1992. Jones, who has held his current position since October 1998, will serve also as chairman of the executive committee. He will become only the fifth CEO in the 60- year history of the company.
