KUKA: Shelf Mount Robots

KUKA Robotics Corp. recently introduced its new 6-axis shelf mount KS Series robots, which are designed for top loading and unloading of injection molding machines (IMMs). The KS Series offers an improved low profile design for platen mounted robots that reduces ceiling height requirements on IMMs up to 1200 tons. The KUKA shelf mount design offers greater downward working envelope when compared to standard floor mounted robot models, which will improve the customer's flexibility and cycle times. "Our customers have made it clear they need the flexibility of the 6-axis robot but with the low profile capability of a shelf mount form factor," said Joe Campbell, director of strategic alliances. "The KS Series is ideal for optimizing space while increasing accessibility to the workcell, and it is a welcome addition to our family of in-mold and post-mold processing robots."
