Land Instruments International's new primary blackbody temperature source for calibrating industrial infrared radiation thermometers is smaller, lighter, more stable and more accurate over a wider temperature range than its predecessor -- and it sells at a lower price. Recommended for temperatures from 500 to 1600C, the bench-mounted LANDCAL P1600B2 heats up to 1400C in 1.5 hours, with a stability of less than +/- 0.5C over a 60 minute period. The high emissivity 50 x 300 mm conical-ended blackbody cavity is heated by six equally spaced silicon carbide heating elements to ensure a uniform and stable temperature along its whole length.
