A $10.8 million capital improvement project recently completed at LignoTech USA, Inc. will reportedly boost production and provide customers with significantly higher quality lignin chemicals. LignoTech produces chemicals derived from lignin, a co-product of cellulose production at the adjacent Weyerhaeuser pulp and paper mill. The companies are working cooperatively to increase the supply of lignin, which had been limited to about 65,000 tons per year.

“With these upgrades, our new plant is now capable of producing up to 95,000 tons of lignin per year,” said Paul LaVanway, LignoTech president.
