Lucifer Furnaces: Gas-Tight, Dual-Chamber Furnaces (posted 11/24/08)

Lucifer Furnaces’ series 8000 HSGT models are dual-chamber, space-saving furnaces for hardening and drawing high-speed steels and ceramics. A continuously welded furnace shell and gasketed door assembly provide a positive flow of atmosphere in the upper hardening chamber, which is rated for 2450°F and equipped with silicon carbide heating elements mounted above and below the hearth for uniform temperature.

An SCR power supply proportions the lowest power input required for each application and limits the amperage for a steady-state control. Automatic compensation for changes in element resistance and workload, combined with a 200% aging factor, provides excellent element life. The lower drawing chamber is complete with easy-to-replace wire-wound heating elements, as well as a stainless steel liner and fan assembly to recirculate heat for uniform temperature. A safety micro-switch shuts off power to the elements and fan when the door opens.

The lower chamber can operate at temperatures from 800 to 1600°F. Furnace sizes range from 12 x 12 x 12 in. to 24 x 24 x 36 in. All models are completely wired to N.E.C., test fired, and shipped ready for connection to main power and atmosphere supply.
