Malvern Instruments recently opened a direct sales operation in China, paving the way for expansion of the company's materials characterization business and the provision of enhanced support to its customers in the area. The new operation includes the establishment of five new offices located in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xi'an. An expanded team of 18 people will deliver extensive sales, service and applications support locally and in local languages. Ren Xu, Ph.D., has joined Malvern Instruments as applications and technical support manager for the Asian region. An author of numerous publications and patents, and a serving member of ISO and ASTM standards committees, he joins the Malvern team from Beckman Coulter's Particle Characterization Business.
