Machinable ceramic components for high-voltage and high-temperature applications, such as electrical and thermal insulators or fixtures, are available from Mica-Tron Products Corp. The company's insulators exhibit superior electrical insulation properties at temperatures up to 1000C and high thermal conductivity to 2800C, depending on the material. Providing better dimensional stability than engineering plastics, machinable ceramics are effective for manufacturing components and for prototyping in advance of technical ceramics. Featuring tolerances to +/- .0001 in., flatness and parallelism within +/- .0001 in. per 12 in., depending on part material and configuration, these insulators can be precision machined from a wide variety of ceramics.
