Manufactured by Minox, GmbH, the MINOX MLS 200 air-jet test sieve is available from Minox/Elcan Industries, Inc. The machine is used to dry materials of all kinds from 20 to 1000 microns, and it can analyze sample quantities between 1 and 200 grams without the degrading effects associated with other mechanical shaking units. The sieve analysis is accomplished by applying a vacuum from underneath the screen, which pulls the fines through. At the same time, a rotating air knife supplies an upward air stream that frees any particles that tend to peg the screen. This negative and positive air flow releases any fines that cling to larger particles, ensuring a more accurate analysis.
