Morgan Crucible Publishes 2009 Environmental, Health and Safety Report

Morgan Crucible Co. plc has published its sixth annual Environmental, Health and Safety Report. The 2009 report provides an assessment of the company’s performance and includes examples of the group’s products that make a positive contribution to sustainability.

Highlights of the report include:
  • Total water use in 2009 was 2.52 million m3, down from 2.82 million m3 in 2008, due to increased awareness of the use of water and a variety of reduction initiatives at sites worldwide, in addition to changes in product mix.
  • Total CO2 emissions from energy use were 393,000 metric tons, compared to 464,000 metric tons in 2008.
  • Some 17,000 metric tons of waste material was recycled during the year, including 750 metric tons of paper and cardboard, 80 metric tons of plastic, 288 metric tons of wood, and 349 metric tons of metal.

The report is available in electronic format and can be downloaded from the company’s website at www.morgancrucible.com.
