MoreElected by the general membership in 2006, Alan Hurd, director of the Lujan Neutron Scattering Center at Los Alamos National Laboratory, has assumed the role of president of the Materials Research Society (MRS). Hurd’s emphasis for the year will be government advocacy to support increased funding in physical sciences, and he invites the materials community to get involved. Hurd spent his vice-presidential year (2006) setting up a vision for increased advocacy in support of federal funding for materials research.
