Murata Electronics North America recently introduced what is reportedly the world’s first 1.0 μF 0.9 x 0.6 mm two-element capacitor array. Ideal for reducing surface area and mounting costs, the new 0302-sized capacitor array boasts the popular 1.0 μF static capacitance, making it well-suited to be a decoupling capacitor for mobile phones and PCs, as well as digital audio/visual equipment.
Miniaturization and high-performance features continue to be a driving force in terms of developing smaller and higher capacitance monolithic ceramic capacitors. Due to its design structure, a capacitor array can realize static capacitance more readily than its single monolithic counterpart. Specifically, by applying Murata Electronics’ proprietary cutting-edge dielectric material technology, this 0302 two-element product is able to achieve 1 μF capacitance per element, unlike standard 0201-sized capacitors.
Specific features of Murata’s new capacitor array addition to the GNM series include 1 μF cap value in a small dual-value package, higher static capacitance compared with a single element model, and reduced board surface area and placement cost due to high-density mounting.
