NACE International, the Corrosion Society, has recently published "Technology for Chemical Cleaning of Industrial Equipment" by Wayne Frenier. The book is a study of the improvements over the past 30 years in the technology used to chemically clean industrial equipment. The author discusses topics such as organic acid and chelant solvents, new inhibitors, improved techniques for removing refinery/chemical plant deposits, and how we have come to better understand the chemical mechanisms underlying many of the current processes. The book also provides an in-depth review of the new developments and their mechanistic components that have impacted the commercial use of chemicals to clean industrial equipment.
