NCECA Announces International Ceramics Symposium

In its “Spring 2008 NCECA News” newsletter, the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) announced:

Shared Journeys: Chinese/America Ceramic Art & Education
October 22 – November 2, 2008

NCECA is pleased to announce an international symposium to be held in Jingdezhen, China, in the fall of 2008. The event is in collaboration with the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and NCECA, and will take place October 27-30, 2008 (actual travel and symposium dates are October 22-November 2).

Located in the clay-rich basin region of Jingdezhen, home to the porcelain used by the imperial court during the Jingde Period (1004-1007), and supporting an ongoing pottery tradition dating back 1800 years, the blend of old and new, east and west will be the highlight of this clay experience. With a focus on ceramic art and education, this symposium will present panels, lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions and tours of the region, with participating ceramic artists from both China and the United States represented.

More complete information on program schedule, costs and travel information for this international ceramic symposium can be found on the NCECA website at www.nceca.net; e-mail questions or comments to china_info@nceca.net.
