Alfa Aesar, a Johnson Matthey company, has added a molecular structure and substructure search capability, as well as a search by MDL® number option, to its website. The new structure search function allows customers to search for families of building blocks and intermediates through the use of a molecular drawing tool. The user can draw a molecule and search either by substructure, where any instance of the drawn molecule as a complete structure or as a substructure is returned as a search result, or by exact structure, where only exact matches are returned. The MDL number search allows for searches by MDL numbers, which originate from the Available Chemicals Directory.
