GranitiFiandre’s Legacy of Green website provides details on the company's worldwide corporate environmental stewardship.

Italian stone and tile manufacturer GranitiFiandre has launched a website at www.gflegacyofgreen.com to provide information on its environmental efforts and assist with understanding and purchasing sustainable surfacing materials. “Our sales team has been flooded with questions about the meaning of environmental statements in the media,” said Jeanne Nichols, vice president of sales and marketing for GranitiFiandre in the U.S. “Customers are eager to make environmentally responsible purchases, but often lack the understanding of the many factors that contribute to the production of a sustainable product. The Legacy of Green website is one more way that we can give our customers the support they need.”

GranitiFiandre’s Legacy of Green website provides details of its worldwide corporate environmental stewardship, including materials usage efficiency, water resource management, air quality protection and energy efficiency. The site also offers guidelines for understanding the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, as well as insight into evaluating the integrity of environmental claims. Information on the company’s environmentally advanced products made with non-virgin raw materials is available on the site, along with a search function for the company’s nationwide distributor network.

GranitiFiandre’s European facilities operate under the guidelines of UNI EN ISO 900 Quality Management System. They also hold the European Union Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) designation for exceeding minimum legal compliance and continuously improving environmental performance. On September 2, 2000, GranitiFiandre became the first porcelain tile manufacturer in the world to achieve the specific requirements of UNI EN ISO 400 Environmental Management System. GranitiFiandre brought its Legacy of Green stateside in 2003 with the construction of a new facility in Cumberland County, Tenn., designed with state-of-the-art environmental technology to ensure sustainable manufacturing processes.

“The Legacy of Green website is the newest piece in a complementary package of environmental efforts that bring together the people, systems and values of GranitiFiandre’s organization. Our environmental achievements continue to move forward and that’s a legacy we’re proud of,” said Nichols.
