Norton Co.: VRF Bonded Diamond Grinding Wheel

A new line of diamond wheels for roughing and finishing polycrystalline diamond and cubic boron carbide cutting tools has been developed by Norton Co. New Norton VRF bonded diamond wheels eliminate the need to use a two-wheel roughing and finishing operation to sharpen polycrystalline cutting tools. Using one VRF wheel has proven to lower cost, increase productivity and improve tool quality. In grinding tests on Coborn and Ewag grinders, cutting tool manufacturers and resharpeners have found they reduce grinding time by up to 30% resulting in lower grinding time per part and lower total grinding costs. The new Norton VRF bonded diamond wheels also generate better cutting edges by reducing flaking and chipping on CVD and hard grade PCD inserts.
