Central Testing Laboratories provides metallurgical engineering, mechanical testing and analytical chemistry services.

NSL Analytical Services Inc. recently announced that it has acquired Central Testing Laboratories, which provides metallurgical engineering, mechanical testing and analytical chemistry services. Terms of the transaction were not released. The new name will be NSL Central Testing, LLC.

The purchase of Central Testing allows NSL to expand its capabilities and offerings to include tensile testing and physical testing, providing “one-stop” services to its customers. Like NSL, Central Testing also has ISO17025 and Nadcap accreditations, along with P&W, Rolls Royce and many other certifications.

“This is an exciting step for NSL,” said Larry Somrack, president. “It gives us new resources for growth by expanding our offerings to our current client base. Many of our customers already require tensile testing, and many of them prefer to send their physical and chemical testing to one laboratory. That will now be possible. We have worked with Central Testing for a number of years, and their culture of quality and excellent customer service is similar to ours.”

According to Gary McPeak, president of Central Testing, “NSL is the right buyer for Central because of NSL’s growth plans and reputation in the chemical and metallurgical testing field. Adding the capabilities of Central Testing now gives NSL the added capability of mechanical testing to round out their services. It will be very good for the clients of both of our companies and the industry.” McPeak, who has owned Central Testing Laboratory since 1980, will be retiring later this year.
