“The last few quarters have been very exciting for Octillion, having achieved and surpassed several major milestones in the development of our NanoPower Windows,” said Harmel S. Rayat, president and chief executive officer of Octillion Corp. “It’s now time to engage a seasoned management team with specific expertise in the development and commercialization of solar and photovoltaic technologies. The team will make the most of our success in the lab by moving our technology aggressively along the commercial development path.”
Octillion Corp. recently doubled funding for the research and development of its NanoPower Window technology, following news that researchers had successfully created a mechanically stable developmental prototype. Scientists engineered a see-through lab prototype of the window, which, achieved optically active down-conversion and displayed good electrical properties with no electrical shorts.
Key to the development of Octillion’s transparent NanoPower Windows is a proprietary spray coating of a silicon nanoparticle film, which is fluorescent and able to convert the sun’s energy into electricity. The process of producing these silicon nanoparticles is supported by 10 issued U.S. patents, seven pending U.S. patents, two issued foreign counterpart patents and 19 pending foreign counterpart patents.
